After some advice from Nikon owners

I recently got given a Sigma 50-500mm and find its really good and now wondering whether to sell my Nikon 80-400 or not.

What i was thinking along the lines of is selling my Sigma 10-20, Sigma 17-70, Sigma 24-70 2.8 and Nikon 80-400mm

and replacing with nikon equivalent

Nikon 12-24 and 17-55 2.8,

But are the nikon lenses really worth their price as i`ve heard mixed reviews about them, and not to sure they are worth ditching the sigmas for, or would i really be blown away by the image quality?

From a purely prsonal point of view- I had a tamron 28-85mm f/2.8 and sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 and Nikon 18-200mm and invested in a Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 and a 70-200mm f/2.8. The difference was so noticeable- You will really see the quality improvement. I can't comment on the 12-24mm as I still find the sigma 10-20mm a really good lens.

I had a Tamron 17-50 f2.8 and a Nikon 17-55 f2.8. The images they produced on my D300 were so similar I didn't know which one to keep. Eventually I sold the Tamron because I just preferred the Nikon images, (but not the extra weight) I wouldn't say it was worth 3 times the price of the Tamron though.
If you get a nice sharp Tamron, it's a stunning lens for the money

And there is the Nikon 10-24mm don't forget. I prefer both the Nikons over the Sigma 10-20.

I'll toss in the tokina 11-16 f2.8.... hehe you've probably already checked that out tho

A colleague of mine got the 50-500 and said it was the bees knees (and backed that up with some pics). I really want one, but around the 600 ukp mark second hand... can't get one...

How does the 80-400 compare? Do you have a flickr/website with comparison pics?
