Visited Liverpool a couple of weekends ago to visit our son who is at Liverpool University - didn't have much time but managed to grab a few shots of the docks - Obviously HDR but not too HDR I hope !

I like both of these but #2 will be thought by some as being OTT, in places there is some justification for this e.g the sky but all in all I like them.

Definitely too HDR!

The B&W has lost definition, depth and contrast, and the colour, well, its all very primary...

One of the problems with HDR is that is can so easily massacre mood. I really feel that these would be better without it.

Hey that's fine I did ask - I still like the B&W though and don't agree with the comment but hey that's photography for you :)

The black and white I think would have been better Sepia. but the image is taken from the right point.. I like the standpoint in this. When we look at Liverpool history, it is coming out of a dark point in it's history, so a darkened image is the way forward I think to bring out the sombre nature of the docks.

Furthermore.. Albert dock is excellent to photograph at night, I think this is because the contemporary bright lights of modern commericialism and the sombre brickwork provide a wonderful contrast.
