Anyone else had a problem with the Nikon cashback on an Amazon.co.uk purchase?

I submitted my warranty & Payment info for my new 55-300 lens today (christmas cashback claim) and I got this in return....

I'm left wondering if this a case for trading standards on just a mistake? I suppose I will ring them tomorrow but I wondered if anyone else had encountered this situation?

You must of purchased from a seller not amzon themselves. I bought a 55-200 which was fufilled by amazon and returned it because it was I import.

I have claimed the cash back for my previous purchases (bought elsewhere).

This was direct from Amazon who were advertising this lens as being part of the cash back promotion.

Have you come across this before?

Hello Brian,

If it was 'sold and fulfilled by Amazon' there shouldn't be a problem. Does your warranty card state 'Nikon Europe'?

You must of purchased from a seller not amzon themselves. I bought a 55-200 which was fufilled by amazon and returned it because it was I import.

I bought a Tamron direct from Amazon UK once and when I registered it for the cash back and extra warranty the lens was apparently a German import.

Amazon have a nasty habit of sourcing their products from wherever they sell it the cheapest at the time.

Oh B****R it looks like It was actually sold through Amazon by a third party after all.

OH well, it's still pretty good for £197. No point returning it, I don't suppose I'd get a replacement anywhere near that price. I'm a bit miffed because I thought I had bought genuine UK from Amazon and they were advertising it as being good for the cash back offer, however I wouldn't be able to prove it and now I see I didn't even buy what I thought I had, I'm doubting myself...

I'll have to put this one down to experience I suppose.

Fulfilled by Amazon just means that Amazon are holding the stock for the merchant selling the item and it is ready for immediate dispatch. This doesn't mean that the item is or isn't a grey import, but most likely it will be grey (especially if it is cheaper than anywhere else).

If the item is in stock at Amazon themselves and is not "fulfilled" by them or a merchant, then it is almost always UK stock, though there may be some instances this isn't the case though I have never seen this myself.

If it isn't sold by Amazon themselves then I usually don't buy it from them.

You don't get a two year Nikon warranty on lenses (unless bought as part of a kit) even if you buy from a Nikon approved seller as far as I know.
