Liked the lines and the angle on this scene and the pose of the guy against the wall. Also like the light and the contrast of the guys clothes against the simple geometry of the wall and floor. I know convention would probably say whack the guy on the nearer third, but I quite like the way the strong lines drag the eye to the guy. That and the fact that the wall makes the shot for me.

convention? nah, works really well, like you say the strong simple lines beg to be seen, finally leading to the guy on the distant third, I think having hime nearer would totally lose the impact. Liking it

I wholeheartedly agree. In fact, I might be tempted to move him even nearer the edge of the frame!

thanks for the replies folks. glad you like the shot and the composition. I can see why you would be tempted to go a little more extreme as that's what I initially did. may even still have that version so will post if I can find it. thanks again
