and now everything is lightning fast ;D

was testing how fast photoshop opens 35mb tiff file

3,5 sec !!!!

thats fast :)

64gb SSD now 137 quid.. getting to a nicer price too..

i paid around 140 (for 64gb)for mine but that was from main street shop not online....

Now as main photos hdd died ( again :/) Im thinking about getting bigger ssd for photos only ....I should be able to store around 3400 photos saved in tiff on 128gb drive
3400 is a hell lot of photos....

Just waiting for the price to come down a bit more. My MBP had a 200Gb drive which I replaced with a 500Gb drive due to space. I would love an SSD but the capacity is a problem really. I am sure I could manage with a 256Gb if I had to. Shame the MBP can't take two 2.5" drives without removing the optical drive!

Yep, for laptops they got a long way to go yet. I'd love one for my OS/Scratch drive on my desktop but I still need a second storage drive (or a third and fourth drive on my desktop:cuckoo::lol:) on my laptop.

Maybe that Z series Sony really is calling. Think the Quad RAID SSD is definately more interesting... Worth £2k for a 13" machine... Hmmm!

EDIT: Sorry £2.5 for the 256GB RAIDed SSD version... Comes with a 1920x1080 13" screen however, for those of you with the vision of a hawk...

I was toying with the idea of sticking one in the Mac Pro. There are 4 drive bays with their own SATA sockets built in (you just stick a drive in the holder and slot it in) but there are two spare SATA sockets which are for alternative optical drives (you get two IDE sockets too) so I could get a 256Gb SSD and attach it to one of the spare slots then attach that somewhere else in the case (still giving me the option for another SSD)......

Would be interesting to see how much of an improvement I can get under MacOS with an SSD. The computer is on all the time so no boot time improvement......

I guess it would just feel "snappier". Probably no difference day to day most of the time.

Apparently the Z series actually allows up to 512GB RAIDed, for an extra £700, and if you want the extras (8GB of RAM and Blu ray drive) then you're looking at the sharp side of £4k... Who said Apple was expensive.:lol:
