Another website redesign....

Hi, it doesnt do anything for me except a couple of tabs one at the side and one at the bottom. No photos can I see :shake:

The tab at the bottom has about info on it and a line of numbers appears. If i run the cursor along I see a small blank box attached to each number. If I click the about tab I do see the info but still no piccies. At the far right on the bottom there is slideshow info and it is telling me 'showing x of 28'

I am on a Mac running firefox.

However, when I select 'About deanphoto' (not sure about the fuzzy text on mouseover - makes me think my eyes have gone funny), I get a text box over each of the sub-menus. Are they supposed to be there? If so, you've got 'Services' over the 'client list' menu.

Typo on 'About' - 'automotaticaly' - although sounds more appropriate given the subject matter :)

I find the font a bit hard to read - the letters seemed too squashed together.

Not clear how to get rid of the submenus once selected, so you can see those gorgeous photos full screen again. Perhaps add a downward arrow to the tab to give a hint?

And (I'm such a pedant), I'm no expert on grammar, but I think "I am always on the lookout...to photograph, if you think your car..." should be "to photograph. If you think....". Similarly "The portfolio will automatically scroll through images, if you wish ..." and "Thank you for taking the time to view my portfolio, if you..." should start as new sentences, or use a semi-colon instead of a comma. Any English teachers on here to tell me if I'm wrong?

Also, when I select 'About deanphoto' and my mouse is not over the 'About' text area, the 'About' submenu does not highlight, and I have to move my mouse over 'Services' and then back to 'About' to get it to highlight.

As others have said, it doesn't work in Firefox :(

Looks amazing in I.E though!!!

Still not working in Firefox. Works in Safari though. Strange.
 
Thanks all for the feedback! It seems to work in Firefox on the review site..hmmm.

I'll re-up everything.

My grammar is terrible so if anyone would like to rewrite my about page feel free :)

Right then, I've re-upped the site, would now appear to work in Firefox on my mac :)
 
Yep working for me now. Nice site & some excellent shots on there.

Are you using Slideshow Pro btw? The only complaint I have is that the thumbnail previews are too high up. I think they should be appearing just above the bottom navigation.

I guessed correctly but that was only because I couldn't see anything else that might perform that function.

I don't think all visitors will be so lucky.

Totally agree.

Very sloppy design, that. And I know it's not necessarily yours, Dean, but it's a glaring error on an otherwise rather sleek website.

I think he might have quite literally just changed that.

A minute ago mine were halfway up the screen, now they're right at the bottom...

EDIT: Ah, no. What's happened is I've maximised the browser page and then resized it back down and that's what's sorted the thumbnails out.

Weird.
 
Gorgeous photos, very, very, very slick. Love it!

Re: navigation, not so keen. Would a compromise on screen real estate be agreeable? If a navigation menu/option skirts the side or the bottom of the screen and is "on display" so to speak?

Re: the Information icon on each photo, would it be possible to provide further information on, let's say, Client and Information? I think putting a copyright notice on each photo could be abbreviated/omitted too. I found myself browsing your photos wanting to know information about the car and set-up but got distracted by the copyright info.

The inclination to print screen actually increased with repetition of the copyright notice ;)

Really love the pictures though. Amazing stuff.

thanks for all the feedback. I think most of what has been mentioned are design floors in the gallery software (the thumbnail previews being too high, then resetting etc).

I've asked my friend who helped me with it to look at some of the points raised and hopefully we'll be able to resolve the issues.

Re: the info. I did start putting client info in there but most of the pics are for private owners or supercar clubs. maybe I should put a story behind each or alternatively, remove the info?

I thought about putting some tearsheets up, what do you reckon?
