Yes
as you may know i have a nikon d40 with 18-55mm, 50-200mm, 70-300mm vr ed
and a nifty 50, but i have an offer of a Samsung GX-10 with 2 lens's a 18-55mm and a 55-200mm, if i got it would it be a step up,down or sideways :cautious: what do you think?

Mainly sideways, and partly down. The GX-10 is probably a better camera than the D40, but you'd lose the use of the 70-300 VR lens and it's a less comprehensive system than the Samsung/Pentax one - if you wanted to hire a 300mm f/2.8, say, you could do that easily with Nikon or canon, but not with Samsung/Pentax.

What is your budget perhaps a 2nd hand D200?

budget i don't know how much i can get away with, the samsung was bought by my brother in law for his daughter and my sis went out and bought her a d60  (college course) so the samsung is surplus to requirements, i wont change to samsung then because of the lens issue so he can take it back to where he bought it from, is the canon better because i could always sell my nikon+kit and buy canon lens's

Oh god now you're for it the old which is best C or N!!!!!!

Whats best is what you are most comfortable with.

Both makes are good but you determine the results.

Some people like the Canon range of lenses others like Nikon.

Best bet is to go play with the options and see which is comfortable to handle.

It'll cost you more if you need to change lenses but ultimately it is up to you.
I use Nikon because they fit my hands better and just feel right.
