Any experience with Cullmann products?

Hi guys,

I'm looking for a travel tripod and have seen the Cullman Magic CompactPod....

I have to say I'm the sort of person who loves new innovative products and the flat folding design I really like. Read a couple of reviews and all seems good. It packs down small so will go in my backpack well, its very light and its £83 - so would just need to find a head afterwards.

Any experience with this tripod? Or with Cullmann stuff in general?

I have one but it is now with my daughter. It is not very tall unless you extend the center column. but it is well made and packs very small.

I'm not too fussed about having something particularly tall, it says on the tech specs its 4ft at it's maximum so by the time you extend the centre, add a head then bolt the camera on it wont be much shorter than my current Manfrotto.

Good to hear the good feedback though. Happy with the quality etc? How do you find the sturdiness?

It is a strange configuration but no less sturdy than other compact tripods, and it makes a very acceptable monopod.
 
I used to have a cullmann Nanomax tripod. Was fairly sturdy for what it cost.
 
I have several Cullmann photo products, no complaints with any of it. German engineering is usually very good and this is no exeption, lasted a long time and working well still. No hesitation in recommending it.
 
I use one of their horizontal macro arms....wonderful bit of engineering.

Got a 2921 here which I have just replaced with something a little taller. As mentioned above, German made and good quality and stable IMO. I have used a D7100 with a 1.4TC and 300mm f4 AFS lens and it was very stable when using on my kitchen tiles.

Mine also has spikes built in and comes with two flash brackets and goes low for Macro and a QR ballhead. Not bad for a old tripod. Would recommend on my experience of using this tripod.

Need to put it up for sale on here when I get round to taking some photos.

I think you will find that that height is with the centre column extended. From the specs it looks like 130cm fully extended and 83cm for just the legs.
