Any form of protection for a reversed lens?

Hey folks. I fancy giving macro photography ago. I recently watched a video in which a guy reversed his lens using a ring adapter. I've seem them on fleabay cheap. But I was wondering if there was anything available to protect the rear exposed element of the lens?.. Otherwise I may consider extension tubes or close up filters.. If anyone has any opinions or advice I'd be much appreciated :) thanks
 
I don't know of anything to protect the exposed rear element of the lens. Why do you feel the need to protect it?
 
some rear elements jut out, and don't have protective coating
but reversing is better done with old manual lenses anyways

but bluetac and a filter will do
 
Cut the middle out of a rear lens cap, then glue it to a suitable cheap ebay/amazon lens hood.
 
If you're going to buy an adapter, you might as well get a set of extension rings instead which will do the same thing. All reversing a lens does is to move it's optical centre forward to allow it to focus on closer objects.

That's what I was thinking. Can't think of why it would be necessary.
 
If you put the shortest of a set of extension tubes over the exposed end of the lens this will cover the contacts and sensitive bits.

I was just curious thats all.
When taking snaps of tulips, I got alittle close & covered the lens in pollen..:(
