As in the title, has anyone any thoughts on this?? i might buy it just for general use but was just wondering if any of you lovely people on TP have one?? and if you like or dislike it??

Thanks! :)

I've had one.

For my ex Nikon D200. £39 NEW in Jessops in the new year sale.

Here's a shot I took with that setup:

It's one of my fave and best ever shots.
The lens is utterly tack sharp. Light, CHEAP.
I can't praise it enough.

There's more examples here.

Most of those shots where with this lens.

it's reckoned to perform well above it's price - supposedly 1 of the best performing -200mm zooms in IQ terms made by anybody.

Check out your local Curry's. The one near me had 2 canon fit ones for £59 each recently.

Another vote for it here, it is my favorite lens and probably on my camera about 80% of the time.

I used to have one, excellent lens for what it cost, I only sold it to buy the Canon 55-250 IS as my hands aren't very steady at 200mm.

I'm in the same boat, think i'm being swayed over to an IS lens as I know I will be shaky at the zoom end of it.

How does the Tamrom or Sigma Image Stabilisation (i know different names for it!) compare to the Canon?

Quite impressed by the difference IS made on the 18-55mm I got with the 450D compared to the 18-55mm non VR version I had on my D40 so can only imagine it be more pronounced on longer zooms

Cracker of a lens...Punches well above it's weight..Tack sharp and great bokeh...You won't regret it I promise!

I've always found the cheaper tamrons dead sharp - I've always used the 70-300 range and they're very good.
