Hi all,
I managed to get a photo accreditation for one speedway event, next sunday.
I am new to motorsport photography itself, but familiar with panning technique, using slow shutter to show movement, freezing (parking) the subject etc.
What i am not familiar with are specifics and constraints of a typical speedway event.
Any tips? And i mean... Any ;)

Watch out for flying cinders if you're on the outside of a corner (your eyes and your lens's front element won't like being hit by them!)

There are really only two locations to stand.

Just before the apex of the first bend so you shoot as they are leaning in or crashing. Swing your body 180 degrees and cover the camera with your body and let the shale hit your back as they pass.

Inside the track on the curves close in low down as they are sliding.

Just have a look at Speedway Star magazine it's weekly.

Oh! if it's dry you will get dust everywhere and I mean everywhere don't change lenses.

Don't be a tourist, always wear your tabard and always keep your witts about you - things go wrong quickly track side and it the pitlane like this guy...
