my friend 2 years ago wanted to buy a DSLR (a sony a200) and it was like £400, which was out of her budget so i recommended a plan;
buy a cheap bridge camera as it wouldnt even be noticeable IQ wisw compared to an DSLR and kit lens.
save up for some decent glass (this took her 1 1/2 years) she has now got a nifty fifty, the 30mm f2.8 macro, and 28-75mm f2.8 (the sony one)
the a200 is now less than £200 mint con second hand and so she has bought it and is happy that she has this decent glass and she has learned some of the basics of photography using the bridge camera and adding to her fashion portfolio and now has good glass to get even better images and saved some money than if she brought her camera 2 years ago.
hope this helps anyone, just thought it might be a good idea who dont need a DSLR straight away and can wait a while.
