Claim to be an illegal alien & get deported , but you may have to wait a few years for the goverment to organise it.....

don't know a cheap way of getting back though

ask someone in SA to buy a return ticket and use that as it will be cheaper than buying it here

There was an article in the newspapers the other day that internet booked flights don't always work out that cheap. The prices they quote don't always include extras that you are liable to have to pay for. So if you do search the internet, make sure everything you need is included in the price.

Become a pilot?
OK its a big investment, but your flights become really cheap once you're done.

take a long run up and flap your arms...

That only helps if you have bingo wings :D

Become a courier. Read a thing in a snoboarding mag about DIY 'budget' trips to Japan for under £750 and they booked themselves in with a freight airline and 'escorted' a shipment. They saved a packet. Nothing dodgy.

The other thing is either book really early or leave it untilt he day before. I've foudn the period from six to one wek befor ethe flight si the most exepsnice and they just hike the price up until the last minute when they start to give them away!

One way is to not take a direct flight from the UK.

e.g. Buy flights from U.K. to portugal having already bought online a flight from Portugal to SA.

It is possible to save hundreds of pounds this way as many airlines have cheaper flights from "less wealthy" European countries.

you have to put up with the extra short flight though

also risky if your short flight is delayed and you miss the main flight.
