I'm after a 24mm fast lens for my D7000 and have been looking at the Samyang 24mm f1.4 as it looks super sharp and produces lovely quality images. I am looking to go FF at some point in the future.

Question is that i have tried manual focus lenses before (With adapter so no contacts) on Nikon and you have to use manual mode which is a pain for exposure as the light can change in an instant when outdoors.

Does the Samyang let the camera expose automatically in A mode just like using an AF-s lens in manual?

Any good alternatives?

I don't know about this specific lens but i know some samyang's (maybe all?) have the nikon electronics so can meter and get a expose readings.

Oooo that would be good. I'm guessing that the modern ones will have the metering sorted in that case.

Many thanks.

Not so fast but sharp and compact is the nikon 20mm f2.8.

That one is on my list actually as it would be better suited for landscapes on my D7000.

Thanks

Yeah it would be but still not particularly wide on d7000, but if you plan on going FF soon then its perfect for that.
