i know zip about monitors but have decide to replace my 19'' cheapo desktop monitor [ a Yuraku LCD TFT...:gag:] with a UltraSharp 2209WA

i read this in a review .............

''Work that requires precise colors matching will be problematic with Dell UltraSharp 2209WA. For photo editing / web design, color calibration will be mandatory, due to incorrect gamma curve. On the other hand, precision, grayscale, lack of color inversion and price make this monitor more attractive for the purpose.''

please explain what i need to do....thanks...

You'll need to buy a calibrator. Search the net for them, or I've heard of one called Spyder 3, which seems to be highly rated.

Alternatively a different screen :\

I've got the Ultrasharp 2407, if it's the same as that, you will need to make adjustments to the colour settings to get it right, I used to do the calibration thing as well but, now I just tweak it visually every month or so using prints that I know are ok, seems to work alright for me.

calibration is advisable on all displays really..

got 2 2209WAs calibrated with a spyder3 pro and they're spot on.

Have to agree with this! A great combination and well worth investing in.

I bought one a few months back John and was well pleased with it, you wont go far wrong imo.

thanks all.....

now time to save...
