just after forewarning as to how much I'll be stung for sending in my sb800 really... nikon don't give out quotes before you send it in, and charge if they quote you and you then don't do it with them o_0

No but I think I got a ballpark on a tube replacement on an SB600. I bought a new one.

I'd call one or other up and ask price for a new tube. They should be able to give you the part cost and an estimate of labour.

im sure some one here a has changed one them selfs, also there was a busted one in the sale section that a person brought and fixed them selfs.
worth joining the nps, alot better and quicker service.

Hmm, cheers everyone.

My flashes get too rough a treatment to want to do it DIY I think, even though I'm pretty experienced with soldering etc. Hmm.

Just read the manual. Definitely not doing it myself, lol. Everyone who does open their flash up, the rubber 'push to rotate' bit always seems to fall off too.

Cheers anyway... Though if anyone's got a ballpark it'd be nice I'm expecting £70 (1hr) labour plus parts of around £20 tbh...

Just an update, if it is indeed the flash bulb gone (pretty sure that it is), then this repair is £16 part plus £50 labour and delivery from fixation, £66 total
