Anyone heard of Samark bags?

Sorry for going off topic but I've got to ask this question as it's about the 4th time I've seen it mentioned on the forums.

Why don't you like to buy stuff on ebay?

I can understand that you need to be careful when buying second hand goods but there is a lot of items that are brand new, from good dealers (kelso, lens_master) and a darn sight cheaper than anywhere else especailly compared to the highstreet.

Personally I don't like to buy off ebay because of the damage it does to UK industry, the same reason I don't buy off any company that illegally imports from abroad...

I'd say over 80% of new items on ebay are illegal imports, i.e. have not had duty or VAT paid on them. Or just as likely, they're fakes/reconditioned etc being sold as genuine new items. That's why they're so cheap. That brings problems with warranties etc. And also you end up with no specialists to go to for advice etc because they've all gone out of business.

I don't mind buying second hand or items I can't get elsewhere on ebay but that's all I use it for.

However, if the bag does the job, I might well buy one. So far I can't find anything about it unfortunately.

My only comment is more of a concern: would you really want to put your very expensive camera kit in a bag thats cheap? Personally, I wouldn't trust it which is why i tend to buy Lowepro or Tamrac only.

This is why I am asking. If it's a copy with the same quality ( but not paying for the name ) then it's worth getting one. But if it's a very inferior copy it's not worth it and I'll buy the real deal F1X or a Billingham 550.

I bought a lowepro AW backpack and it just doesn't suit me as I like to be able to use the bag without putting it down all the time. So looking at a shoulder bag instead.

Have you considered the slingshot range? I find exactly the same as you with the Tamrac 7 i have - its fantastic but a pain the bum sometimes. The Nova 5 shoulder bag i have can get uncomfortable with a heavy load. The slingshot 300AW is by far the best for lens changes, all day use, comfort, etc

I'm still considering the best, cost effective, solution to carrying two bodies with lenses attached (17-50 and 70-200) so I can snatch them at will and not worry about putting lenses on and off. Granted that's a large and heavy bag but my best way around it so far... that and an assistant ;)

I used to take my camera out in a supermarket carrier bag! Realizing I needed to spend a little for something offering better protection I now use a £4.99 Lidl messenger bag though.

Michael.
