Anyone Photographed PLATFORM DIVING

In Sheffield on Sunday with a few hours to kill, and am thinking about going to watch the British Diving championship at Ponds Forge. Now I'm not an avid diving fan but thought it would be something different and interesting to photograph - also potentially challenging being indoors with dim orange lights.

My only worry is that i've never been to a diving event before and don't know what to expect.... Is it the sort of thing non relatives go to watch, will amateur photographers be welcomed (or even allowed!) and am i going to stick out like a sore thumb taking photos with a long lens and large camera of people in their swimsuits!!

I don't know the answers I'm afraid but it is sad how anyone with a camera and a long lens has to worry about how they will be welcomed at such an event.

Why not give the venue a ring & get them to give you the info.

I contacted the venue who told me they usually allow no form of photography poolside (for obvious reasons i suppose), but that for a competition I would be able to register at the venue with the ASA, basically signing to say my photos wont be used commercially (and im sure signing copyright over too)
