anyone used a Opteka GPN-1 gps for nikon

I have seen mixed reviews about the Opteka GPN-1 gps unit on amazon and I was wondering if anyone as actually used one.
From the reviews it looks like the build quality is a bit dodgy, sometimes works, sometimes doesn't
I'm prepared to spend £45 for a GPS but not £199 for a nikon one:razz:
If i had to spend £199 i'd buy a better android phone

I've just bought a Sony GPS-CS3 for about £75. On reading the reviews on all the GPS trackers, I found the software seemed always to be the problem. That's the same with the Sony's GPS. I found that all I needed was to convert the track log it generates to a GPX file, so I could let Lightroom 4 geotag my images. The only issue with this was that I can't seem to plug the GPS into my PC (tries, but fails to mount). The only way around this was to install the 200 or so Mb Sony s/w. It's ridiculous I know, but it does work and the rest of the geotagging is straightforward. I should say that the GPS unit itself is very cheaply made (for £75). It's very plasticy, so don't drop it!

bump. So having got £50 a prezzy of Amazon tokens I decided to get the Opteka GPN-1 GPS for Nikon. Work a treat, picks up location in 30 seconds , thats faster then my Garmin GPS or android, sits nice on top of camera, or you can hang off the strap using the little cord loop.

better than paying £200 for having "Nikon" printed on the side.

I was about to order one of these from Amazon, but the bad reviews are putting me off, especially the ones mentioning that it doesn't work with the D5100. Damn. Shall I bite the bullet? Can't afford the Nikon one
