Anyone used a Seagull Right-angle viewfinder?

I just bought one on ebay...not sure of the model but the guy had it on a 350d, and since I have a 400d which is identical in the viewfinder department, I figured it would be fine.
I paid £5 for it which I think is reasonable...they are priced £50 and up when i searched t'interwebs...

Anyone used one? Any good? I have issues sometimes when shooting macro, spiders and the sort...they're never easy to get and having no live view makes it harder.

Any thoughts?
 
I use one on my D300/S5 Pro occasionally for low down landscape stuff, it does the job for a hell of a lot less than the Nikon version. :thumbs:
 
As stated for low landscape ok. I attempted to use it in macro and found it unusable.

Right...why was that? Was it still never the right position, or something?

I was trying to take some photos of water drops the other evening and the camera was somewhere between waist and shoulder level...too high to kneel down, to low to stand...was killing my back...wondered if it'd help with stuff like that. :)

The focus was soft where there is a lot of detail but as I said it was ok for landscape where you did not need to see the detail just get it framed right

Used my on my EOS 30D and EOS 1D MKIV no problems at all, and a massive saving on the Canon version.

The only slight niggle is there is no way to lock the diopter adjustment, which is easy to move.

I tried useing a seagull once... but it kept biting my nose:lol:
