Anyone using photocart?

For a number of reasons I'm probably going to have to shift from Gallery2 and at the moment Photocart looks like my preferred option.

What I'm most interested in is how easy it is to set up automatic file downloads. Other than that what were/are the main problems you've experienced with it, hows the support, that sort of thing.

I dont use it myself, but I believe 'the noir dude' uses it to good effect

downloads are a piece of proverbial..

only issue i had resulted in me running within a frame which isnt really supported anyway.

the support forum is really handy.

I've recently integrated photocart to my website. Well that's not strictly true, I paid a geek to do it for me!

Its a great system, possibly too clever/complex for it's own good once you start customising the layout etc. Getting your head round it is not a 5 minute job!

I wanted to offer hi res downloads but I've had trouble uploading masses of hi res files, so had to reduce them right down. I'm probably doing something wrong and if anyone can offer any advice I'd love to hear it. I also got Dave's Uploader but really haven't got my head round it all yet, I now just tell Dave's Uploader to upload the images and it resizes my 4 to 12 meg images into smaller files for upload.

Definitely recommend it, especially when your first big print order comes in

DDP: so Dave's uploader does the resize as well? That would cut another stage out of my workflow

I don't offer downloads, but I have used Photocart for a couple of years selling prints, and can't fault it.

I'm no techie, but found it fairly easy to integrate into my website, one question to Tim was promptly answered and the problem resolved first time.

Recommended
