Yes
Does anyone on here own one? Looks like the cheapest price is 90quid at Amazon, anyone know of a cheaper way to get one?

Looking at running XBMC on it :D

Ah good spot! Hmmm, its only 90 at Amazon. Not sure what would be best :s

Personally I'd rather deal direct with the manufacturer - free delivery too (usually next day if the use the right courier...)

I've got one. Just running the stock OS though.

Get if from apple, that way you can try it for 2 weeks and if you decide you do not want it you can send it back to them....

They do free collection as well..!

for the uneducated what exactly does the apple tv do?

Yep I brought a refurb about a month ago and we love it.
Ripped all my DVDs into itunes, the kids can flick through the DVD collection and just watch what they want at a touch of a button. My daughter (nearly 2) can go on YouTube and watch peppa pig to her hearts content.

Wifey can stream music from iTunes when she wants very easily.

I picked one up about 3 months ago and jailbroke it, now running XBMC to stream all my media from my HTPC in my lounge up to my bedroom. At the moment it's struggling with handling the 720p stuff and keeps buffering, whether or not this is a network issue, file issue or a problem with the box i don't know.

I would recommend getting one, but only to jailbreak it.

Have to say, Acer Revo (or similar atom+Nvidia ION) running xbmclive is my preference for the best platform to run xbmc

to be honest i tried XBMC again the other day on the quad and its still jumpy. i think its the DXVA decoding.
Quite probably. The linux port seems to be the most stable of all. BTW, is your TV capable of 24fps reproduction (some accept it but display at 50 or 60hz which implies judder)? If it isn't it doesn't matter what you run it on a 24fps encode will be jumpy (which will only be noticeable on pans).

playback is fine in VLC and MPC though.. its weird.

i noticed the other media center doesnt use all of the screen either, its about 95% full screen either with overscan. so im screwed either way lol.

Have you tried xbmclive (you can run it from the DVD drive, don't have to install anything). I think support for Nvidia is better than ATI too (think you're an ATI kinda guy...) though
