Hi everyone.
I have some really stubborn dust particles on my 7D sensor.
Tried a rocket blower on many occasions but they are still hanging on.
Up until now i have been cloning them out, but now am getting a bit fed up of it.
I am away on holiday soon and hoping to take some nice landscapes and don't want to spend the next few weeks cloning dust out.
Had a look at the Visible Dust Arctic Butterfly 788 (with light) on Wex website.I know its not cheap, but am not bothered about that if it works.
My questions are:-
1: Does it do the Job?
2: Is as easy as it says it is?
3: Are there any alternatives?

For dust, the Arctic Butterfly brishes are supposed to work very well but stubborn "dust" could be too sticky for the brush to shift so your sensor might need a wet clean. Personally, on the rare occasions my sensors need cleaning, I use a SensorKlear from LensPen. I use them as a single use item for sensor duties, relegating them to less critical jobs (lenses, filters etc.) after their sensor job.

On the few occasions over the past few years where there have been sticky particles then I've found I needed a SensorKlear or Eclipse swabs and fluid to move them.

Thank you for the replies i will look into those options. :ty:

I have an Arctic Butterfly & it does a fantastic job quickly & easily, but if the spots are really stubborn it may not lift them off. I also have a Sensorclear's Lenspen which, if needed, gets the more stubborn spots off.

Been using an 'Arctic Flutterby' on my 7D for donkeys, no probs, on very rare occasions I use a swab,

I'm the opposite. Not only did I find my AB a waste of time, most of the time, I also found it picking up some sort of grease from the sensor chanber on my old 40D and putting it on the sensor filter. This meant I still had to wet clean.
Since then I've never looked back. The wet method will get rid of all the issues whereas the AB won't.

IME of course.

I use the arctic butterfly first!(y)
Quick an easy to use,can take in your bag and use while away if necessary!
If any stubborn bits remain,I use the visible dust swab products to do a wet clean!(y)
