You need to check the water levels, salmon are not likely going to run Stainforth Foss in normal water conditions, there are two river level monitoring stations down stream at Locks Weir at Stackhouse and Penny Bridge in Settle which you ca gain level access from here: https://check-for-flooding.service.gov.uk/station/5109
If you monitor rainfall & then check the water level the ideal time would be after a flood pulse as the river is falling, then is the most likely time for fish to run.
The fish have to leap about 2.5m so they need plenty of water, and from now until the end of November is the optimum time
