This maybe a odd/school boy question, but are all square filters universal? My dad gave me some of his old SLR filters yesterday, and the filter holder fits my lens, and wanted to be sure if I bought new filters they'd slot in nicely? (They're about 85mm x 85mm). Would like to try some NDs and have read that these type are usually best!
Someone here may also be able to answer why some of the filters have holes through the centre? I can understand the 'soft focus' effect one (which I found out by shooting through it), but a hole through a yellow filter?!
Interested to try the 'Star' filter.... could have some fun with these!
