Assortment of past nature photographs

Hi all, trawled through my old shots for stuff to contribute. Call it a bit of a highlight reel to send off my DSLR days, I guess. These are all from a while back – I’d stopped taking photos for a few years, until now (or the near future, anyway).

Changeable lizard, Calotes versicolor. Singapore.


Yellow bittern, Ixobrychus sinensis. Singapore.


Striated heron, Butorides striata. Singapore.


Grey heron, Ardea cinerea. Singapore. This particular individual had learned that people throwing bread from the bridge in this park = fish buffet.


Common guillemot, Uria aalge. Isle of May, Scotland.


Atlantic puffin, Fratercula arctica. Isle of May, Scotland.

White-throated dipper, Cinclus cinclus. Edinburgh, Scotland.


Red grouse, Lagopus lagopus scotica. Yorkshire Dales, England.



Mountain hare, Lepus timidus. Scottish Highlands, Scotland. I’m not sure how well it came through, but this was in the middle of a blizzard, as visibility was rapidly dwindling.

Rock ptarmigan, Lagopus muta. Scottish Highlands, Scotland. I wanted the skier in the shot, but in hindsight, I should’ve framed to exclude their orange jacket.

Osprey, Pandion haliaetus. Scottish Highlands, Scotland. Maybe the luckiest shots of my life, though in hindsight it’s a bit of a formulaic scene.
