Evening all.
I'm doing some athletics work at the weekend for a local club and would like a little help and advice please.
Before I start this isn't paid work, it's for fun and the good of the club.
The gig is an outdoor event and I'll be there all day. The forecast says reasonable weather and hopefully no rain. I will have access all areas, so able to get close in to the action.
I have done this sort of thing a few times in the past, but I'm always willing to learn and to get that shot I might be missing at present.
My kit back for the day will be.
1d Mk3
5d Mk2
70-200 F2.8 IS
24-70 F2.8
135 F2
50 1.4
12-24
1.4 extender.
How the day would normally pan out would be that I would hit the interesting stuff like the long jump - sitting behind the sand - person jumping towards me. High jump, wherever I can get the best full body and bar height shot. And between these shots I would scoot across to do running shots. With regards to the running shots I find these hard. Other than the start when you see muscle groups working hard and some fierce expressions I struggle a little with mid race stuff. I find it hard to be annimated with these. The finishing line is also hard on anything other than short dashes as the field is spread out so much (usually).
Any advice on the gear to put together for certain shots, the shots you would be looking for and where I could improve would be 100% appreciated.
And finally a couple of links to a few shots I have taken in the past to give an idea of where I'm at.

And sorry mods if you think this is in the wrong place, please move as required.
