Beginner Aurora Borealis, Bamburgh Northumberland 23/02

When I saw this post tagged with 'Beginner' I wasn't expecting something as impressive as this, well done!

That's no beginner at work! Well done, cracking shot.

What do we have here ?
At the bottom the fine detail of grass waving back and forth in the night breeze. This leads the eye onto the small building, cold and isolated on a distant headland. Further out on the dark horizon the green glimmer of an aurora that in reality extends from the Arctic circle all the way down to northern England. That thin band of green also circumnavigates the whole of the northern hemisphere. Above it is a vaulting sky studded with the pin point light of distant suns. On the whole a great astronomical image. Please enter this into APOTY 2015 competition as soon as you can ! It's free to enter.
