Auto ISO on the Nikon D300 and D3s

I have used the auto ISO on my D3s to great effect. However, I have been told that the D300's auto ISO is rubbish and have never used it. Has anybody any comments please?:bang:

I think you've been told a fib. It's the same system and works just great. Why not just try it?

Thanks Graham what you say makes sense. Photographing fast jets at the weekend and found auto ISO great. Just set the shutter speed and the camera does the rest. Used it at the Kemble air show last year on the D3s and pics were great. Because of what I had been told I altered the D300 ISO on a suck it and see basis and didnt even try auto mode. Thanks

yep the d700 and d300 does wonders i use manual with auto iso set the shutter and apature and let the camera sort the iso.

I think they have been meaning that the high ISO performance of the d300 isn't great. Auto iso is a great feature especially with the likes of a d3s

I was always fine with using 3200 on mine
