Pretty sure it's an Avocet. Nicely exposed for such a contrasty image, got a good reflection aswell.

Hi Dawn....yes these birds are so ( so they seem ) delicate and fragile looking BUT don't be fooled, they protect their young so bravely and will take on anything that gets to close. Hope you don't mind a couple of pics from my Avocet collection.

First two show the Avocets 'seeing off' Shelduck by kicking them as they fly by!!

And a heron's not a problem either.
