I really haven't got much of a clue about B&W conversions, but this looked about right to me.

I purposely shot this for B&W with a little more contrast to the lighting, I welcome any cc.

Well, I think they are terrific - father and son tenderness well captured!

I think they're really good and the conversion to black and white works well. Given that it's a 'relationship' shot I think the second is more successful because of the eye contact between the two being stronger.

I liked the second more at first, but since posting, someone has mentioned the large shoulder, and the fact that the fathers head looks somewhat detached.
I couldn't see it at first, but now it sticks out like a sore thumb.

I have also been advised to put a little more light on the child to emphasise him more, plus my son didn't like he's man boobs lol.

I have made a few adjustments to No 1.
