Backgrounds!

Be aware that this is only the bit that goes on the floor. The hilite (a great bit of kit in the right circumstances) is extra !

What other equipment do you have in the way of lights etc ?

Agreed the train is only the part that goes along the floor (it attaches to a HiLite background) which is an additional purchase, I think they are around £150

Hope that helps :)

I have the lastolite 8x7 which has been mentioned is great in the right circumstances, however i wouldn't bother about the train, it's to much money for what it does, and i'm fairly sure you could buy a piece of white vinyl and cut it to shape for a third of the cost of the train, admittedly you wouldn't have the Velcro, but you could always hold it down with gaffer tape :)

There was a really good background and stand in the for sale section for £75+£10 postage. I only really wanted the stand so offered £75 but if someone wants both bits (which you do) then it is a good buy. Probably still there.

I don't have any lighting. I want to set something up but havent got any idea's. What would you suggest?

Have a look at these pics:

You cant really see the background properly, because theyre all close ups.....but they were taken with a speedlight attached the camera, bounced off the ceiling, with some cheap black material draped from the headboard of the bed ;)

I'm sure you'd be able to get a half decent effect if you was to hang it off a curtain rail or something........not the best thing to use, but very cheap and does the job reasonably well i think.....

Ok so you dont need all the greatest equipment to get the shots you need. I mean I am not doing it professionally yet! So I will try and experiement, what type of material was it you used? the pics are lovely by the way.

It was just some cheap material from the market! :suspect: Not sure what type, like cotton.....

Can't really comment on the one you've linked as i don't know much about the 'pro' stuff :bonk:

Do you have a speedlight? If not, i doubt you'd benefit much from the proper backdrops until you've invested in some dedicated lighting.........

Thats only my input though, i'm sure someone will come along and correct me!

So I could try it out with some bed sheets or something for now. I do need to buy a flashgun, I think I will make that my next purchase. Thanks for your help

I reckon bed sheets or a plain wall would do nicely for the time being! ;)

A flash gun would be a great purchase if you shoot regularly indoors.....i invested in one a while back, and am so glad i did! ;) :D

Whats to stop you buying a roll of blackout blind (a kind of thick, white plasticky sheet) and hanging that on a rail? That would give a white floor, background, with a seamless transition wouldn't it?

Good idea! I will have a look around. Ive ordered a flashgun so that should help me for a start!
