backpack suggestions

firstly hello to all and thanks in advance for any help.

I'm tired of dumping my SLR and video camera into a backpack that isn't designed for easy access and protection.
I'm looking for a backpack that will allow access to a camera compartment and still have enough space for some general backpack luggage.

i found the Kata DR-467i but not sure if it'll have much room for general luggage

anyone with experience of this model care to share

if there are any other suggestions I'd be most appreciative

Welcome to my world It would help if you mention what kit camera/lenses you are going to be carrying, maybe someone will have a solution.

I have the 465i
Just fine for me.
A700, flash and other lens in the lower compartment.
Two top sips for cables and rain cover.
Top compartment has room for Packaway rain jacket, I just use it for filters
batteries and any other bits and bobs I need at the time.

I have a nikon D5000 with the kit lens and a 35mm f1.8, i'll also have to have my camcorder and digital compact.

it sounds like the kata doesn't have much room for general backpack stuff.

I ideally need something that can be used as a normal backpack as well as protecting the camera and making it easily accessible
