I currently have a Lowepro Photo Trekker AW II which holds just about everything I have but it's quite weighty.

I'm looking for something more compact which I could take on an aircraft, so probably more likely a shoulder bag than a rucksack?

I want it to hold the following:

  • EOS 5D-II with battery grip
  • 24-105 F4L IS
  • 70-200 F2.8L IS
  • 580EX-II

Suggestions? :)

If your looking for something less photobaggy (if you get what i mean) than the lowepro the Crumpler Muffin Top would be a good choice. Great in all weather. Well padded. Pretty Stylish. Awesome name.

Think the 5500 would be as small as you could go. But you wouldn't get hoods in for sure. So I suppose the 7500 is what you'd need.

Take a look at the Tamrac Adventure 9 http://www.tamrac.com/5549.htm

I have been using one for nearly 3 years now, it will easily take what you want in the lower compartment, plus batteries/filters/cards etc.

The upper compartment is a fair size, you can chuck all those travel essentials in it and the rear compartment really will take a 17-inch laptop. I carry a 15.6" one and can slip a folder with my printed e-tickets, reservations etc. and a magazine in there too.

I know you said shoulder bag, but in my experience of shlepping round airports a backpack bag with that amount of kit in it is far more comfortable.

I needed exactly the same thing - got one of Redsnapper's canvass bags with cotton lining - padded. It was £35 and does the job I need it to. Takes 2x D3, 70-200 f2.8, 24-70, 17-35, 2x SB900, diffuser kit, long flash cord and 1.4xTC in the main compartment. Then there are end pockets, two outer pockets for filter sized stuff and document pocket on the back. For £35 it has done well - a couple of years pro use.

Crumpler New Delhi 620, I have one for my gripped 500D, 24-70 2.8, 70-200 2.8 IS and I have the 580EXII in there I have a 50mm 1.8 and the 18-55 kit lens in there also. I posted photos in the review section.

You may get away with the 510, It would have fitted my 500D with the flash. 24-70 and the 70-200 but I wanted the extra space for future lenses and kit.
