Banded Demoiselles have been on my hit liost for a long time now. Have hardly ever seen one, but a few weeks ago I was told about a local spot where they had been seen. Well I found the spot. And sure enough, the Banded Demoiselles are there. Love these little creatures, and was fortunate enough to spot this couple going at it;

Got more shots of Banded Demoiselles on their own, but need to process them still. I'll also keep going back to get the 'perfect shot'.

Love to know your workflow to get short like this. What lens how much a crop? love to try this myself

I use a Sigma 150mm f2.8 with a custom flash diffuser;

No crop (or very little, and only for aesthetic reasons). For shots like this I tend to use ISO400/500, f7.1 (although looking at the exif, these were f5.6) 1/200th shutter speed. Wait until it is cloudy to reduce hard shadows and fire away. I shoot handheld as I find a tripod too combersome for shots like this. As for post processing, I increased the contrast and saturation a little, and reduce the saturation a bit on the background to make the Demoiselles stand out more. I then dodged and burned the shot to balance the shot out.
