I use Sanyo Eneloops - I think they are generally regarded by most as the best - available from 7dayshop.com - They stay charged for longer than normal batteries if not used for a while - about 80% charged after a year of not being used.
I also use a Maplin ultra fast charger - charges mine in less than an hour.
You want a good charger, not a fast one. Get a half decent intelligent charger, and look after your batteries. There's little point getting good batteries, and then cooking them in a super-quick charger.

Fast chargers are the best way to 'destroy' good batteries!
