I've just received one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PRE-ORDER...t=UK_Camera_Battery_Grips&hash=item3f17f390a4 and can highly recommend one. It does everything it should, reads the battery info correctly, fits nice and snugly, feels solidly made and the buttons are nice and responsive. It did take a couple of weeks to arrive, but it was definitely worth the wait :thumbs:

Between me and the wife we've had 6 Canon bodies and all have been run on 3rd party grips and all have worked flawlessly and continue to do so. The 550D grip is the same as the 650D grip, so that's been on and worked on 2 different bodies.
 
Yeah, I'd be interested in some pics...at nearly £200 cheaper than the Canon one...it looks like a much cheaper alternative....
 
At least you can get these... I find it amazing that Canon have released the 5D3 and 2 months or more on, the official BG-E11 is still only coming through in dribs and drabs. :cuckoo:

It’s as if they want togs to go out and buy copies :shrug:
 
Here's some pics of it fitted, haven't done any off the camera as I've been shooting airplanes most of the day. Can do a couple later if anyone's interested. This works really well, it's fairly weighty so balances well with a 70-200 f2.8 IS L or a Sigma 150-500 OS and it's definitely solid. The 5D3 feels really good in my hands with it on though, I've just weighed the camera, grip and batteries and a Sigma 150-500 OS on it and it weighs 3.3kg.

Given the appalling availability and price of the OEM Grip from Canon I thought, what the hell, for the same of £55 I may as well give one of these a go. Just placed the order, thanks for the link Modchild :thumbs:

Also ordered the copy GGS screen too, at the end of the day it may not be the same quality as the OEM version but as long as it does what its intended to do what the heck :shrug:
