Yes
has anyone got one of these and are they worth purchasing.

Thanks

Got one on my backup 450D personally found the camera easier to handle, and negligible weight gain, the 1100D shares many of the features of the 450D and approx the same weight.

ok thanks for that. just wasn't sure that because the 1100d is a smaller camera the battery pack may look abit bulky on it.
although i had a battery pack on an old slr and i liked the shutter button on it that allowed for easy use when taking vertical pics.
may dig a little deeper on this one

I've had grips on all my bodies, 7 in total, and had 3rd party grips all the time. Some of the best ones have been made by Meike such as this one on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Meike-Pow...t=UK_Camera_Battery_Grips&hash=item2a137e2a63

They are very reliable and make it easier to balance a longer lens, plus if you have larger hands, like myself, you should find it comfortable to hold and much easier for portrait photos. The wife has one on her 650D as well and she finds it more comfortable to carry but not too weighty either.

Had another look at the grip ( thanks for the eBay link) I I see that there is a cable that plugs the two together that runs up the outside? What's this mention for then! Is it for the shutter to work?
