Listening to some guy from Kew Gardens this morning, he was saying that due to the current warm snap and its effect on plant sugars and chlorophyll, this autumn will see more vivid leaf colours and variations than usual - time to schedule some arboretum visits?

It's funny you say that as I have been noticing how poor the colours are on the trees around me this year prob due to the poor weather this summer. That said, this weather will be working I am sure. Maples are always a good bet for colour.

Bit of a mixed bag round here, some turned early and lost their leaves to the remains of that hurricane that came over a few weeks ago, the horse chestnuts are looking rough as usual, the sycamores/maples show promise.. but I think there's a risk everything will be out of synch this autumn.

Looks like we are due a cold snap next week (didnt last long, did it!) that usually get the colours going!
