Best Battery Grip for D3100 and Where to Buy.

Been looking around for a battery grip and there are loads on ebay but I just don't know how good they are. I've seen the Meike one's seem to get fairly good reviews but the only place I can seem to find them is from Poland or Hong Kong. Has anyone bought these?


Also, I see they have a cable, does this have to be used? I mainly want the grip to get the extra grip and battery life, not too bothered if the other shutter button doesn't work.

I bought my D90 fitting Meike from a company called Cam2uk, they are on e-bay but I think they are based here in the UK, although the grips obviously do originate from China. I don't know if they do one for the D3100, but I should imagine they do, and if the quality is the same as the D90 model, and I can't see why it wouldn't, it should be fine.
A word of warning however, mine came with two batteries which died suddenly without warning in spite of showing a full charge and the camera not being used. Still, with the grip costing only £36.00 including the batteries I suppose I shouldn't have expected them to be much good. (see my post on the D90 link)

Have you had any experience of the cheap ebay ones?

Also, are third party batteries generally pretty rubbish?
