Hello, I hope this is in the right part of the forum & if not the mods can move it I guess.

I took up photography around Birmingham a few years back when I got sober (I suffer from the Antoine D'Agata diease) but after a series of days & nights walking around I grew tired of the weather, being looked at like I am mad to be taking photos, incidents with people drunk or high etc I gave it up.

I've had some of my old work shown in a local gallery but it's old stuff but the guy who runs the place has given me the backbone to try again but I am without a camera but this will soon be solved as I have a birthday on the 11th of November & I have always had a Leica fetish which is why despite having a Leica M3 taste & a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FP1EB-P budget I am drawn to the Leica D-2 / D-6 but I am no expert in these matters so I decided to ask others who are way more wiser than I am what I should look at.

I shoot only street & prefer Monochrome / B&W / Moriyama-esque are, bure, boke (荒れ・ブレ・ボケ) look to the images so some super amazing DLSR etc isn't that important to me but I would like a camera that has little lag when shooting & I am very open to a 2nd hand camera in very good condition.

Anyone have any pointers etc to help would be great, thanks in advance folks.

I've got a D-Lux 2, and although it's a lot of fun I can't really recommend it as a main camera for street shooting. At anything over the base ISO 80 it gets quite noisy, which really doesn't suit street shooting conditions. So I'd definitely recommend going for one of the later D-Lux models, for better noise performance and the chance to add an EVF. And if your budget could possibly stretch to an X1 then that's a much better way to go for the APS-C sensor.

Here's a couple of snaps with the D-Lux 2. I don't really do street shooting myself, but hopefully they'll give an idea of what it can do. But note: these are at ISO 80 and they've had noise reduction applied.

If you’re looking for little lag a used DSLR will be the best value for money and lots within your price range.
