Best Fisheye for Nikon D7000 please

I am hoping to get my husband a fisheye lens for his birthday next week.
However I know very little about them, and was wondering what folk on here would recommend?
The 3 contenders seem to be:

Nikon 10.5mm f2.8 G IF-ED AF DX Fisheye Lens

Sigma 10mm f/2.8 EX DC HSM Rectilinear Fisheye Nikon AF

Samyang 8mm f/3.5 Asph IF MC Fisheye CS NIKON AE

The Samyang is the cheapest, but I have read a lot about quality control issues.
Any advice would be very welcome please.

Have only used the Nikon and its a fantastic lens both optically and in build. The Nikon and sigma are rectalinear so show a distorted image across the whole frame, and not a circular image Luke some fisheyes. Not sure if the samyang is rectalinear. The samyang is manual focus also.

You can pick up the Nikon from a used dealer like MPB for around £400.

Many thanks! It does sound the way to go, as he does like his Nikon lenses!
 
the 10.5 Nikkor is a very good lens & £400 seems to be the going rate.
at least thats what i paid for one a few weeks ago :thumbs:

There's a review of most fisheyes on the market in the next edition of Advanced Photographer magazine. It'll be out in a week or two.

All fisheyes are curvilinear (or non-rectilinear) ie straight lines towards the edges are strongly curved outwards. Normal wide-angles are rectilinear, ie straight lines are straight.

The three in the OP are all full-area fisheyes on crop format cameras (eg D7000) filling the whole image with 180 degrees field of view corner to corner. On a full frame camera, they deliver a circular image with 180 degrees view all round, but I don't think anyone makes a circular fisheye for croppers.
 
I've been very happy with the Samyang 8mm, but the effect is quite extreme. Don't be put off by the manual focus, to be fair it's easy to get the hang of and even the basic model of this lens meters with the d7000.
 
Thank you for the explanation on fisheye lenses Richard, because to be honest I wasn't totally sure of the differences, so you have made it a lot clearer, especially as I couldn't ask my husband although I knew he wanted one filling the whole frame!!
I think that for him the Nikon is the way to go, so thank you everyone for all the excellent advice you've given me on this thread. I really appreciate it! :)
