Hi

Looking to get a flashgun for my D40

Any recommendations, but has to be good priced, ideally under £100 :)

Can't go wrong with the SB400 in my opinion. It is a great starter flash but I'm afraid you are very limited by your budget.

I have the SB-400. It is a really good little flash, If you are only looking for a quick, on camera flash with the ability to bounce upwards only (in landscape) then this will do you well.

It can get off camera with an sc-28/29 cord and has a really nice fill pattern on an umbrella if you do.

look here for a pretty honest review http://www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/sb400.htm

I know I have just seen the prices! would love to spend lots of money, but just want to get a better walkabout lens first, but the SB400 looks great for what I need it for! after all I am really new to this, so I will start small lol, and will keep the BF happy without spending lots hehe :)

Thanks, thats great

and to be fair the limited bounce can be easily got around with a bit of carefully folded paper. you ronly other bet is a used sb-28 but then you'll be limited to manual only...No fancy iTTL
