Yes
Hi Guys,

I am after a 77mm filter for my new 17-55 and I was wondering what is the best / cheapest to get, and where from?

Thanks,

Craig.

Have a look on Amazon & their marketplace.... Look for either B+W MRC, Hoya Pro1 filters or Marumi (I think the latter is a recommended filter but not 100%)

or you could even place a wanted ad in the sales forum if their isn't any for sale there....

Is there a for sale part of the forum?

Are filters usually quite expensive?

Can be - depending on the make & size of filter your after.... CPL filters are are more expensive than UV filters... Then protective filters are cheaper than the UV ones....

Yes, but given the number of posts you have, you may not have access to it quite yet.

Ah thanks guys...will have a look sometime soon! I'm very slowly working my way through the different areas of the forum...it seems to update before I've hardly read anything!

That's two very different questions there ;) :D

The cheapest, well you can get then for a few pence of amazon and ebay, the best, that's another matter. I believe the Hoya HD range come in very high regard? For about £50 I think? The difference usually comes in the form of coatings, the cheapest one will be plain glass, the most expensive will have all kinds of clever coatings to stop glare, flare, and anything else that ends in 'are' :)
