Did you unzip the folder first? If so, look for something called 'startup.exe' or 'install.exe' or something similar and double click it, if it doesn't work then make sure it's marked as executable (can you do that in Windows? it's been so long... ;) ).

Can you screen dump an image of the unzipped file/folder? Are you saying you can't actually see how/what to install it?

here is the pdf for the user instructions which you can review on picturenaut site
it really beats me..and i have put two posts on the user forum and sent an email to the people who got the contrbution..which wasnt a lot really but you can have it free as well

Installation
Picturenaut has no installer.
Unzip the picturenaut ZIP archive with it's path informations into a folder of your choice.
It is very important that the subfolder structure stays intact, otherwise it will not work correctly.
For example, if you unzipped into "C:\Program Files", your directory structure should
look like this:
Then you can start picturenaut directly. You will find it in the "bin" subfolder.

here are the series of unzips

In your last image, have you clicked on 'picturenaut'?
Doing so should start the programme, I don't think it installs in the way most programmes do, it runs from where it is saved but you can add a shortcut somewhere else if you wish.

Hi,

First off, extract the zip file to a location on your hard drive, from the screen shots above it looks like you are using windows explorer to view the files within the zip file which is not the same (the second one is for sure). one of the reasons I say this is because the picturenaut exe file has the basic windows icon.

then double click the picturenaut excecutable from where ever you extracted it to, job done.

Paul.

Yeah looks like picturenaut in the last folder is the installer/executable.

There is option in Folder Views/Options that lets you view known file extension types. If you can find this option (without me knowing your OS) it should become visible.

when i try to extract all from the picturenaut first download..nothing happens
normall you get a choice where to save stuff, as normal
so i click it to open...and i get the file picturenaut...which isnt able to be extracted
so i click that and get the list of files...of which picturenaut.exe is missing
normally on a download i save the file and it goes to my download folder and i extract from that
this file doesnt seem to have any extraction choices like others which generate options etc
i have downloaded afresh with my virus check off as suggested elsewhere and it still doesnt open

will gladly report when i does and i am able to see what is blockin it

Those instructions don't seem right..I just downloaded the software and there is no BIN directory. http://www.hdrlabs.com/picturenaut/faq.html#I_have_just_downloaded_Picturen

It runs happily from the Picturenaut icon shown above/below on Win7/Avast.

:agree: that's what I get too on Win7.

The instructions on the website seem to be for an older/different version, 'bin' is usually part of a unix file system

hi friends
i did the simple thing advised and downloaded it on my wife's laptop...which worked ok
we both use XP pro laptops
so i put the folder in programmes in her laptop on a stick and the copied it into my programme file...and hey presto...it worked
so i am now a bit wiser about what my laptop is doing...its a lenovo T60 and has a lenovo front end opening sequence which is laborious...so i reckon something in there didnt like the download....thats the first time however...
my wife's is an acer and loads quickly
we both have the same malware and virus protection running...so thats a strange one

all i need do is to do some multiple exposures and see if i can get the programme to work for me..

many thanks
cheers
