Yes
I was wondering if any of you have used the Sigma 50-500 dg with a teleconvertor, i need more reach but can't afford the canon 600 prime (and my wife won't let me get it if i could) so i was wondering if the IQ dropped a great deal or would i get away with it ?

what you have to remember is that adding a tele will almost certainly add a stop on to the lens. I havent had that much sucess with the Jessops tele convertors, and as far as i can remember you cant use the Sigma or Canon tele convertor with this lens.

I do expect to lose af but i was wondering about the sigma teleconvertor and the bigma soz i should have made that clear :bonk:

Here is the official Sigma teleconverter compatibility table.

You can use Sigma APO teleconverers with this lens, but you lose autofocus capability. Note also that with a TC fitted you can't use the whole 50-500 range but are restricted to 100-500. I don't know why.

The 1.4x TC makes it a 140-700mm f/7.4-9.0 manual focus zoom.
The 2x TC makes it a 200-1000mm f/10.4-12.6 manual focus zoom.

I don't know what the IQ will be like, but I wouldn't hold out any great hopes.

Thanks stewart, does anybody used this set up and have some pics to show the IQ (y)
