Thanks. We have a few Chaffinchs in our garden, also Greenfinch, both of which went through my mind. The reason I am not sure, is both those bird types are quick movers, & I've never seen them settle down. This one was on a log on the ground, & apart from moving it's head a little it was almost motionless. It was obviously resting, but it was open to predators. It certainly looks a little like a female Chaffinch... but, I'm not so sure. It looks different to my other Chaffinch photo's, not a lot, but different.
