I would appreciate comments as I am attemting to find my way in this type of photography.Taken with a Panasonic G5 and an Olympus 60mm f2.8 macro lens.

Pretty good so far. In #1 you have got the whole of the Azure Damselfly's body in focus which is important for the shot. Don't be frightened to crop even more, as I think this may look better with the out of focus plants on the right removed.

#2 has good sharpness on the eyes, which really focuses the viewer's attention.

One of the biggest challenges you will face is to get a good clean background to make the subject stand out. This often means using a wider aperture than you would normally expect. In #2, the background is quite distracting, which is a combination of where the damselfly was (which you can't help) and the use of a narrow aperture. I use f8 for damselflies, but I think your G5 has a small chip so you will automatically get more dof at a given f-stop. Try f5.6 and move your position to make the most of where the insect is. Most important of all, keep trying and keep posting your shots for C&C.
