These were captured hand-held using autofocus last weekend in our garden with an FZ200 and KX800 twin flash at 1/1600 sec and f/8, which is equivalent to f/28 on APS-C. The images were processed with DXO Optics Pro and Silkypix Developer Pro.

There are 1300 pixel high versions in this album at Flickr.

Continued in next post .....

Superb again Nick :)

Thanks Mike.

I'm interested in your choice of aperture... why not go smaller? I thought you typically went minimum aperture for maximum dof (and don't worry about diffraction)...

These are minimum aperture - "f/8, which is equivalent to f/28 on APS-C." The FZ200 has a 6.2mm wide 1/2.3" sensor.

Ah silly me - I forgot f8 was minimum on the FZ200, sorry.

No problem Mike. The reason I keep mentioning it is that most people here are I think using at least micro four thirds (which is three stops different from 1/2.3") or larger sensors and so the Exif data is easily misinterpreted. (For the benefit of newcomers to close-up/macro I also like to keep hinting that minimum aperture like autofocus can be usable - depending on the kit in the case of autofocus - even though this is often said to be not the case.)

You have very clearly made your case with these latest shots! You've inspired me to keep trying with my Sony :)

Excellent set, spot on (y)
