We've been lucky enough to win a honeymoon in Indonesia next year, 4 nights of luxury all paid for.. Looks gorgeous.

We have to be picked up and dropped off in Singapore. As its only a couple of hours flight and something we've both wanted to do for a while we're going to extend our trip and go to Borneo.

So, any recommendations for Borneo or Singapore ? :)

Goodness - what a great prize!!!!

Singapore is (IMHO) worth 2 or 3 days if you have the time, if, for no other reason, to see how clean and efficient it is possible to make a large city! Gardens on the Bay are well work a visit - day and evening (to see the 'supertrees' lit up and dancing!)

Borneo, if its wildlife you are after, - we have visited Borneo Rainforest Lodge (high end lodge, great location, great standard of accommodation, had some great encounters with wild Orang's and red leaf monkeys. Quite pricey!

We also had a very enjoyable 7 day trip, splitting time between Sukau River lodge on the Kinabatangan river and (via Gomantong caves) Tabin Wildlife Reserve. Again, super wild Orang sightings at both. Pygmy ele's at Tabin. Accommodation less upmarket than BRL (but more than adequate for our needs) prices more reasonable. At both Sukau and Tabin, you are aware that you are visiting remnant patches of rainforest, surrounded by oil palm plantations.

Thanks.

Yes it will be the wildlife were after, we'd looked at Sukau River lodge so glad to see the recommendation.

We're going to fly out to Singapore a few days early so we can get rid of any jet leg etc, but will be getting out there

Gaya Island Resort (just off the coast from Kota Kinabalu, easily accessible by short hop flight from Lahad Datu) is a popular place for sea and sun after time spent in the rainforest.

I'll have a look.

Thanks :)

Singapore is fabulous. Day and night. A travel tripod will be needed for the endless night shots you can get. Botanical gardens, Chinatown, Indian market, are all good. Sentosa Island is great, which is attached by a bridge to Singapore itself. The black and yellow cabs are super and do not rip you off as there very carefully regulated, but be careful of there so called limousines, they can charge you what they want. The trains are very good and cheap to get around.
Hope this helps.
